The
Bell of Friendship Foundation is a non-profit, charitable
corporation organized under the laws of State of California
. Our mission is to preserve and promote the legacy
of the Korean Friendship Bell, a gift from the people
of the Republic of Korea to the people of the United
States to commemorate the U.S. bicentennial jubilee,
to honor American veterans of the Korean War, and to
symbolize friendship between the two nations.
As we celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the dedication
of the Friendship Bell, however, few still remember
that the original plan for the Friendship Bell was for
the creation of a park-like complex, complete with an
outdoor amphitheater and a number of smaller pavilions.
The plan also called for a gateway to the park complex,
complete with the tile-roofed stone walls along the
perimeter of the park -- all structures reflecting the
traditional architectural style of Korea
Our goals are as follows:
 |
| 1. |
To create a member-supported
permanent endowment fund that will enable
the completion of the original plan for the
Friendship Bell and support the work of preservation
thereafter; |
| 2. |
To promote the spirit
of friendship and goodwill between the two
nations as expressed by the Friendship Bell;
|
| 3. |
To campaign actively
to raise awareness of the significance and
symbolism that the Friendship Bell embodies;
|
| 4. |
To preserve the historical
and cultural importance of the Friendship
Bell for future generations. |
|
We invite all groups and individuals
who share this vision to join us and work
with us today, for there is much to be done.
